The March of Dimes Walk for Babies is this weekend. There are two events. On Saturday 5/4, you can go to the Martinsville Speedway at 9AM. On Sunday 5/5, you can go to the Salem Civic Center at 1PM. Get more information on these and other events here.
On Tuesday night at the Jefferson Center. It's the "Young Artists Against Hunger", and it benefits Feeding America Southwest Virginia. There will be music, visual, and culinary arts at this event featuring local young artists. Learn more at http://www.faswva.org/.
Hundreds of kids turned out for the area's Inaugural Color Run. This event, in which runners were colored with colorful cornstarch before they started out, was meant to bring awareness to and help curb childhood obesity.
The Board of Visitors approved increases in tuition and fees for the upcoming school year-$532 for in-state students and almost $1,300 for those from out-of-state.
