Kirk Cameron is in Lynchburg tonight! Yes, I know you are wondering why I'm excited. Well, let me just tell you :) ...
He was my pre-teen crush! In 7th grade I was in his fan club and "he" sent me a letter that I proceeded to bring to school and show EVERYONE.
I also begged for a pastel green boom box for Christmas ... yes, I just said boom box (and proud of it). I got it! ... and noticed there were just enough buttons on the tape player part for me to paint - in fingernail polish, I might add, "I <3 Kirk" (by the way, the <3 is a heart) Yep, I was that geeked out about him.
So, do I think I have a lick in common with him these days - or heck, even then? No - probably not, but I remember well, how lovesick I was over that kid, and how I desperately wanted to go to San Fernando Valley in Southern California because that is where he lived. And here we are - years, heck, decades later and he's right here. I could even interview him for a story in our news tonight - finally I can meet him!
Oh, sidebar, click here to find out more about his speaking engagement. It's at 7p tonight at Tree of Life Ministries in Lynchburg.
OK, back on track ... here we are decades later and my night is packed. I won't be able to interview him for a story. If I was still 12 years old, I have no doubt I would have cried myself to sleep.
I'm not so much 12 anymore and I think I'll be able to handle it just fine. :)
But I do have to give a quick shout-out (you never know!)
