The West End Center for Youth announces its upcoming 5k Spooky Sprint event 

Roanoke, VA – The West End Center for Youth will be hosting its First Annual Spooky Sprint 5K fundraiser on Saturday, October 29^th, 2011.  The event will be held at the South Roanoke Park near the Rivers Edge Sports Complex tennis courts and the course of the race will take part on Wiley Drive along the Roanoke River Greenway. The 5k Spooky Sprint event is going to consist of a 1 mile fun run/walk, a 5k race, and an after race event. The after race event will include refreshments for participants, music, an awards ceremony, a kids play area, information tables, and raffle prizes.

The mission of The West End Center is to enable local families and children with limited resources to lead more self-determined and enriched lives by creating a positive and nurturing child development community. The success of the program has been demonstrated through the student's incredible academic achievements and unparalleled graduation rates.

Through this event, the West End Center for Youth hopes to raise funds that will be used to implement new curriculum, expose the children to new experiences through activities such as field trips, and purchase fundamental learning materials. All of the proceeds from this event will go toward directly benefiting the West End Center!

The event is still seeking sponsors to help fund its sustainability and allow for this fundraiser to bring in as much revenue as possible to contribute to the West End Center. Also volunteers are welcomed and needed to assist in the logistics of the event, such as set-up and manning the informational tables and water stations.
