When Adrienne Howard was going to school at E.C. Glass high school, she never imagined 20 years later she would be sitting with Michelle Obama, the First Lady, at the State of the Union.

"To see all the people you voted for that you have seen on television thousands of times, that they are there, it was incredible, it was such an honor," says Howard.

Howard, who now lives in San Diego, says she has supported her husband Navy Commander Colby Howard from the beginning, as a military wife. Recently, she started project adopt a sailor, to make sure all sailors have the support they need. She says she was an honorary guest because of those efforts.

"I think she invited me because I represent the spirit of volunteerism in the military. Everybody but thousand of people volunteer like I do, they support their active military members," says Howard.

Howard says, while she was at the State of The Union, this honor wasn't just for her, it was for all military wives and volunteers.

"I am so proud to be there representing military spouses and the spirit of volunteerism. What an honor for Michelle Obama to recognize military spouse volunteers," says Howard.

During a tour of the White house, she even got a chance to talk to the First Lady and the President.

"The first thing both of them said was thanked me and my husband for our service to this county. I was just amazed," says Howard.

Making this night something she will never forget.
