Fire leaves 2 families homeless

Roanoke Fire Chief David Hoback says between 8-10 people were displaced in the Kirk Avenue fire. The local chapter of the American Red Cross is helping them this morning.

Two families were inside at the time.

The fire started at 6:30 a.m. this morning.

8:00 a.m.

Roanoke City firefighters are on the scene of a house fire right now.

It happened at 120 Kirk Avenue, S.E. around seven this morning. Spokeswoman Tiffany Bradbury says the house has heavy fire damage. A neighboring house also has damage.

No one was hurt. The cause is under investigation.
