Grayson County Deputy in hospital after shooting - FOX 21/27 WFXR Roanoke/WWCW Lynchburg News, Weather

A Grayson County Deputy is in the hospital expected to make a full recovery after undergoing surgery overnight from a shooting.

Officials tell us it happened just before 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night in the 3,000 block of Skyline Highway in Galax. Two deputies responded to a report of a domestic dispute there. Deputy Douglas Waller was shot in his lower stomach. His bullet proof vest turned the bullet down into his pelvis region.

Gary Wheatley and Crystal Gooslin are currently in jail without bond. Wheatley is charged with two counts of attempted capital murder, and use of a firearm in commission of a felony. Gooslin is charged with possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. Two other people were also inside at the time of the shooting.
