Franklin Co. Dismisses Superintendent Charles Lackey

Posted: Updated:

In a surprise move the Franklin County School Board voted to discharge their superintendent-- Doctor Charles Lackey-- for "no cause".

Sue Rodgers will now step in as acting superintendent, until an interim superintendent is hired. They have three months to hire a new superintendent.

As we have reported in the past, Lackey's spending as Superintendent has been brought into question. School board chairman Ed Jamison would not comment if that was why he was let go.

"We are looking at it as a chance to move forward for us and doctor lackey and so we are hoping to make it a positive spin and it is really not about looking back at the past it is about Franklin County needs to do going forward," says Jamison.

As part of his contract, Lackey will receive one year of benefits and salary.
