Roanoke City's municipal auditor, Drew Harmon, confirmed he had a meeting with Barbara Dalhouse, the president of the board of directors at the Roanoke Valley SPCA, to set a date to begin an audit of the Regional Center for Animal Control and Protection.
While officials for both the SPCA and Regional Center insist the two organizations are separate, both share the same building and same executive staff.
Dalhouse also has a seat on the Regional Center's advisory board.
Bill Watson, the executive director of the Roanoke Valley SPCA, as well as executive director of Animal Care Services, the entity set up to run the Regional Center, has not returned several phone calls seeking comment on this story and other issues at both the SPCA and the pound.
Dalhouse has also not returned several requests to comment.
Two Roanoke Valley SPCA board members referred me to Dalhouse, saying she was the "spokesperson" for the board.
Harmon said his office has a few other things to do before starting the audit, but said he expects to begin in the coming weeks.
