Roanoke Store Clerk With Gun Fends Off Robber - FOX 21/27 WFXR Roanoke/WWCW Lynchburg News, Weather

Roanoke City Police are searching for a would-be robber who was scared off by an armed clerk.

According to police department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson, a man walked into Anwill Grocery in the 200 block of 24th Street on Tuesday, August 7, just before midnight. The clerk said the man took out a gun.

Johnson said the clerk told officers that he took out a gun himself, and fired a shot. That scared off the would-be robber, who ran out of the store.

The clerk told officers that he followed the man outside, saw him get into a car, and drive off.
