Local charities are off to nice starts collecting relief supplies for Hurricane Isaac victims.
Concord-based Gleaning For The World had a truck with a 24-foot bed stationed outside the Sam's Club on Wards Road in Lynchburg.
The non-profit collected items and cash donations today.
The collection site will be open on Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the same location.
Gleaning doesn't expect to have trucks loaded and ready to deploy to the Gulf Coast until sometime Friday.
Danville-based God's Pit Crew reported it's already on the way with 100,000 pounds of relief supplies.
A news release stated the organization is just not sure exactly where in the Gulf Coast its crew will be going.
God's Pit Crew is still taking donations.
