Becky says: I plan to own Double Unders ... some day

Posted: Updated:

Add Double Unders to my list of workouts to conquer.

I had NO idea it would be so difficult to do 50 Double Unders. During my interval training class a (former-haha) friend suggested we do the "Fantastic 50." I quickly realized she was talking about what many people call the "Filthy 50," which I find more appropriately named. Fantastic is a little too crazy positive for my liking.

I have seen various rundowns for the workout, but the one she specifically had, involved ...

50 Pushups

50 Mountain climbers

50 Air squats

50 Double unders

50 Burpees

50 Double unders

50 Air squats

50 Mountain climbers

50 Push ups

While I've noticed other workouts involved 10 different exercises, the fact this one doubles up and makes you do Double Unders twice - is pretty much it's own little - oh, I'll be positive and say ... treat. An added bonus involved me whipping my leg with the rope - I like to think of it as my own little warrior wound. :)

Oh, by the way, if you don't know ... A Double Under involves swinging the jump rope under your feet twice for every one jump. Doesn't sound tough? I didn't think so either. I was the queen of Double Dutch back in the day and I can jump rope with the best of them ... but 50 Double Unders kicked my rear. AND ... Keep in mind it's not the only thing you are doing - so mix in a little exhaustion when you give it a try.

I laughed when I read a story online about Double Unders and how this one woman can now do them in her sleep after lots of practice. I have no desire to obsess over it - but darn't I plan to own those Double Unders some day!
