Roanoke police captain Monti Lee declined comment on the investigation.
Capt. Lee is in charge of the investigations and narcotics/vice units for the Roanoke City Police Department.
Lee said the number of home invasions was down dramatically compared to 2008.
In 2008, there were 56 home invasions and/or attempted robberies in Roanoke City, according to statistics provided by the Roanoke City Police Department.
The suspected home invasion at Westwood Manor Apartments would be the 14th so far this year in Roanoke.

Roanoke City Police have released more information about the overnight shooting.
According to police department spokeswoman Aisha Johnson, a man inside an apartment heard a knock at his door.
The man then opened the door, and two people forced their way into the apartment. The man said one of the intruders had a ski mask on.
A fight then took place. During the fight, the man said one of the intruders took out a gun.
A second person inside the apartment heard the fight, and shot at the intruders, hitting and killing the man with the ski mask.
Police say they know the intruder's name, but are withholding it until family can be notified.
The second intruder ran away.

Roanoke City Police are investigating a deadly shooting related to what they believe was a home invasion last night.
It happened around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday at Westwood Apartments.
