Insanity Plea in Botetourt Crime Spree - FOX 21/27 WFXR Roanoke/WWCW Lynchburg News, Weather

A Roanoke man is headed to a secure mental facility after pleading not guilty by reason of insanity to several crimes in Botetourt County last year.

Investigators said Joseph Horne rampaged from Roanoke to Botetourt County on August 25, 2011, stealing two cars, kicking in doors, and even burning down a woman's home.

Prosecutors said they agreed Horne was not well enough to stand trial.

Horne's case will be reviewed after six months, and then every subsequent year.
