The RI technology services company is hosting a food drive as well as participating in a holiday “Adopt-a-Family” program through a local community action organization.
Warwick, RI (PRWEB) November 20, 2012
Brave River Solutions (BRS) has partnered with two Rhode Island organizations to support the community during this holiday season. The Warwick-based IT and web services company is currently hosting a food drive to support the Rhode Island Community Food Bank, as well as taking part in the annual Adopt-a-Family program sponsored by Westbay Community Action.
This year marks the 4th annual BRS food drive, in which Brave River’s employees, along with the assistance of other organizations in Warwick’s Centerville Commons office park, will work to help the food bank reach their Holiday Meal Drive goal of gathering 350,000 pounds of food for Rhode Islanders in need. Donations are currently being collected at Brave River’s office from now until Monday, December 3rd.
“Last year, we were able to collect over 200 lbs. of non-perishable food items to support the Rhode Island Community Food Bank in their Holiday Meal Drive. This year, we’re looking to beat that goal, and provide even more assistance to Rhode Islanders in need,” said Brave River’s President, Ernie Gaines.
This year also marks the first year that Brave River Solutions will be participating in Westbay Community Action’s Adopt-a-Family program, which pairs local families in need with area businesses who have offered to help fulfill the family’s holiday wish list. BRS will be sponsoring two local families: one with four children from nine-months to ten-years of age, and another with three children between the ages of six and twelve. Brave River will be providing everything from toys, books and clothing to grocery store gift cards in order to assist each family in having a happy and healthy holiday.
“Many local families are reaching out for assistance after falling on financial hardship due to job loss, family illness, house fires or domestic abuse,” said Jim McAssey, Vice President of Brave River. “We want to do our part to give back to families in the communities which have helped our organization thrive.”
Brave River Solutions has been involved with community initiatives since it’s inception in 2000, striving to take an active role in the local Rhode Island community. It is the organization’s belief that it is increasingly important to ensure that a sense of social responsibility be at the foundation of any company.
