Rockbridge County Emergency Services Coordinator Robert Foresman says the man was taken to Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital after crews removed him around 11 p.m. Monday.
He fell from a rock in the Petites Gap area hours earlier.
The hunter has serious injuries, a possible dislocated shoulder and cuts to his head. The remote and rocky location made the rescue difficult.
Update 9:20 p.m.
Rockbridge County Emergency Management Coordinator Robert Foreseman says crews have located the hunter and he is receiving treatment for his injuries.
Crews continue to work to remove the man, and according to Foresman, the reason for the length of the rescue is due to the "remote and rocky" location.

According to Rockbridge County Emergency Management Coordinator Robert Foresman, the hunter has serious injuries but they aren't believed to be life-threatening.
