Rockbridge County Crews Rescue Injured Hunter

Rockbridge County Emergency Services Coordinator Robert Foresman says the man was taken to Carilion Stonewall Jackson Hospital after crews removed him around 11 p.m. Monday.

He fell from a rock in the Petites Gap area hours earlier.

The hunter has serious injuries, a possible dislocated shoulder and cuts to his head. The remote and rocky location made the rescue difficult.

Crews continue to work to remove the man, and according to Foresman, the reason for the length of the rescue is due to the "remote and rocky" location.

Emergency crews are working to locate an injured hunter who fell from a rock in the Petites Gap area of Rockbridge County Monday afternoon.

According to Rockbridge County Emergency Management Coordinator Robert Foresman, the hunter has serious injuries but they aren't believed to be life-threatening.

Foresman said because of the rocky, remote location of the accident, crews are still working to reach the hunter.
