Roanoke Police Still Seeking Suspicious Man Who Followed Girl

Roanoke City Police are still looking for a suspicious man wearing an orange hat and driving a pick-up truck who might've been following a 12-year-old girl.

Police said the girl reported it on Dec. 4 at 6:16 p.m. in the 1300 block of Memphis Avenue.

The girl was on her way home from Stonewall Jackson Middle School.

She told police she even went in a different direction at one point and the driver of the pick-up still followed her.

She described the truck as an older model pick-up, bluish-gray color, with a wooden framing around the bed and a metal black mesh across the back window of the cab.

Investigators were impressed with her attention to detail.

"Typically we get less information," said Roanoke police lieutenant Barry Booth. "It helps us in the investigation to carry it along a little further."

The man driving the truck had on an orange hat, thin build, and looked to be in his 30s or 40s, police said.
