Henry Co. deputies investigate infant's death - FOX 21/27 WFXR Roanoke/WWCW Lynchburg News, Weather

The Henry County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a 6-month-old infant girl.

Investigators tell us that the 911 center got a call at 4:06 p.m. today (Thursday, December 6th) about an infant who was not breathing, at a home on Mountain Valley Road in Axton.

When EMTs got to the home, they found a family member performing CPR on the child. The rescue crew took the child to Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County, where a doctor said the child had died.

The Medical Examiner's office in Roanoke will perform an autopsy to determine why the infant died.

The investigation is ongoing, and the sheriff's office did not say if foul play was suspected.
