Lockdown Lifted at Ferrum College

The lockdown at Ferrum College has been lifted.

The investigation into the two attempted robberies continues.

12:05 a.m. Friday

WSLS 10's Morgan Donnelly is told by Ferrum College spokeswoman Kim Blair that there were two attempted robberies.

One by Riddick Hall (a dorm), and a second by two people near the soccer field. Two students at the soccer field reported seeing a gun.

The students reported the second attempted robbery, while campus police were responding to the Riddick Hall attempted robbery.


11:57 p.m.

WSLS 10's Morgan Donnelly is at Ferrum College now.

Officers are trying to stop all movement on campus.  The lockdown is still in effect.


11:06 p.m.

Ferrum College has locked down campus.

School's website says person with a gun spotted.

Students being asked to stay in dorms, lock doors.


10:57 p.m.

Ferrum College has issued an alert to campus.

According to the college's website, a student reported an attempted armed robbery to campus police.

The incident took place near Riddick Hall, and the would-be robber may have had a weapon.

College leaders are asking students to stay in their dorm rooms.
