Huh, as I entered the date for today's blog, I realized it's been 9 years since I spoke to my dad.
Days like this are just a reminder to enjoy the time you have with the people you love.
It was about 8:45 a.m., Friday morning, January 30, 2004. We were laughing on the phone about how ridiculously cold it was in Green Bay, where I lived at the time. As we said goodbye, he was still laughing. That was my last memory ... and it still makes me smile.
Later that night, around midnight, I got a call from my sister. My parents were downtown (back home in Cincinnati) when dad suddenly became unresponsive. And that was it. A brain aneurysm, he didn't even know he had, ruptured.
So, I hadn't planned on going down the solemn route when I began typing this blog. Sorry. It just hit me, as I typed in January 30th.
But maybe, again, it's just a reminder to treasure every moment you have with the people you love.
