Your Fox 21/27 News Team:

Bob Grebe

Bob Grebe

Bob Grebe is an anchor on the Fox 21/27 Morning News. He helped create the newscast, which debuted in March 2012.

He started in television in 1999 while attending UNC Charlotte and has since worked just about every position both in front of and behind the camera (excluding news director).

Bob is no stranger to morning news viewers in Central and Southwest Virginia: before joining WFXR, he worked for nearly six years at WDBJ on News 7 Mornin'.

Prior to moving to Roanoke, Bob was also an anchor/reporter at WVVA-TV in Bluefield, W.Va, and Adelphia News 4 in Mooresville, N.C. He was a sports anchor for five years before transitioning to news.

You can follow Bob on Facebook and Twitter.

Tara Wheeler

Tara Wheeler

Tara Wheeler joined Bob Grebe as the co-host of the FOX 21/27 Morning News in January 2013. Tara brings an estrogen injection to the newscast! She'll be covering stories on style, school, health, and how to be fabulous without breaking the bank. Previously, she worked as an evening anchor for the Charlottesville Newsplex and as a reporter for "Redskins Kickoff" on Comcast SportsNet.

Tara is a graduate of Penn State University with a degree in journalism. Half of her education was paid for through the Air Force ROTC program. She served in the Air Force reserves until 2006. The other half of her education was paid for by the Miss America Organization.

Tara was crowned Miss Virginia 2008 right here in Roanoke, and was a Quality of Life finalist at the 2009 Miss America pageant. She believes that "Beauty is as Beauty Does" and used her title to raise more than $50,000 for pediatric cancer research when she partnered with the St. Baldrick's Foundation and shaved her head BALD in solidarity with the children fighting the disease.

In her free time, Tara loves to play ice hockey. She was the starting goalie for the Penn State Lady Icers and still plays in area adult leagues. UVA Basketball fans know her as the in-arena host at every home men's basketball game.

Becky Freemal

Becky Freemal

Becky Freemal, Your FOX 21/27 Ten O'Clock news anchor, comes to FOX 21/27 with a wide and extensive list of accomplishments, including 13 years working as a reporter and anchor, most recently at WCPO, the ABC affiliate in Cincinnati, Ohio. Becky shares the anchor desk with FOX 21/27 Ten O'Clock News co-anchor Jay Warren. Her duties include anchoring the weeknight newscasts as well as doing special reports and reporting assignments.

An assignment Becky is particularly happy about is her "Out and About with Becky," where she meets regular people from our towns, cities, and communities, who share with her their passions. Whether hot air ballooning, learning how to fly fish, or climbing a mountain, Becky is ready and excited about the challenge!

Becky is a graduate of Ohio University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in communications. She has also been awarded many prestigious accolades and awards, such as a National Edward R. Murrow Award for a report she did that highlighted an entire day spent at a local firehouse to show the life of firefighters in post 9/11 in America. While working at WBAY in Green Bay, Wisc., she earned two Wisconsin Broadcasters Association awards for outstanding reporting.

But there is more to Becky than just her work; she is an avid soccer player and likes working out, going to the theatre and watching sports, especially basketball and football. While an earnest Ohio University fan, she knows the deep history and tradition of the Virginia Tech Hokies and the Virginia Cavaliers, and says she loves being in an area so rich and committed to collegiate sports and attends as many games as she can.

"Any time you can help someone tell their story and possibly help someone else," Becky says, "that's what gives my career meaning."
