Our entire community is grateful that none of the 19 passengers on board sustained serious injuries. Only four passengers were sent to Lynchburg Regional, they were sent only as a precaution for further evaluation, and each was released on the same evening. Four Liberty University students were taken to the hospital Saturday night with non life threatening injuries after a Liberty University bus crashed.
University officials say 19 students and the driver were on board at the time. The bus reportedly went over a curb toward the entrance of the pedestrian tunnel that goes under Route 460 - connecting to the main campus. A gas line is nearby where the bus crashed - the gas company came out to check on the situation and said it was okay.
It's not clear why the bus went off the road - the crash is still under investigation. We will keep you updated as more information comes into our newsroom.
