A Virginia State Trooper is dead tonight after a shooting during a traffic stop just southwest of Richmond.
The shooting took place off of Interstate 85, about five miles southwest of the town of Dinwiddie. State police say 63-year-old Master Trooper J. A. Walker was shot by a man around 1:20 p.m. on the highway.
When a responding trooper arrived, he saw a man standing outside Walker's police cruiser and firing repeatedly into it. The responding trooper shot at the man, who ran off. Dinwiddie County Sheriff's deputies arrested the suspect about 40 minutes later. State police have not released his name yet.
