
In a press release, Lt. Governor Bill Bolling today announced that he will not run for Governor. Many pundits had reported that Bolling was considering running as an independent.
In the release, Bolling said "after a great deal of consideration I have decided that I will not be an Independent candidate for Governor this year." The release lists several reasons for the decision, including the financial difficulty of running as an independent, and Bolling's existing ties to the Republican party. Bolling also indicated that he was "heavily influenced by a growing dissatisfaction with the current political environment in Virginia. Politics is much different today than it was when I was first elected. "
Bolling's decision means that Republican Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli and Democrat Terry McAuliffe.
