Two local companies announce layoffs - FOX 21/27 WFXR Roanoke/WWCW Lynchburg News, Weather

Two companies in our area announce layoffs this week.

According to the Virginia Employment Commission, Timber Truss Housing Systems Inc. in Salem is laying off 50 employees this week and Precision Fabrics Group Inc. is laying off 30 employees at their plant in Vinton.

Plant manager Mike Maust says in a statement, "Our military business has seen five straight quarters of double digit decline ... And that is what has prompted our very difficult decision to adjust our staff level that will affect 30 associates."
