Students in our area experience the dangers of texting while driving first-hand.
AT&T and 'Drive Smart Virginia' are working together to bring the 'It Can Wait' movement to teens across the state.
Students from Hidden Valley High School in Roanoke got to test-drive a virtual reality simulator while texting to see the real-life challenges.
The software gives the students scenarios like cars changing lanes and people crossing the street.
"I think schools should do it because it really does show teens what it's like texting and driving," says Hidden Valley High School sophomore Jade Doolan.
At the end of the event, students and faculty were asked to sign a pledge not to text and drive.
