The Roanoke Valley legislative delegation convinced the governor to save two of the three judgeships the valley was losing.
Salem delegate Greg Habeeb confirmed the governor agreed to put money back in the budget to pay for one circuit court judge and one juvenile and domestic relations court judge. Both judgeships were set to remain unfilled after retirements.
Lawmakers will vote on the governor's budget amendments next week.
The governor added $2.14 million back into the budget to pay for judgeships, not only here in the Roanoke Valley, but also in other parts of Southwest and Central Virginia where judges were retiring.
