New robotic ankle and foot prosthetic makes a difference for local man

ROANOKE, VA -

Excel Prosthetics and Orthotics, located in Roanoke is helping make a difference for a Virginia man.

Excel helped Zach Bowman receive a special robotic prosthetic ankle and foot, made by "iWalk." Using small power motors, the technology will allow him to walk, climb and jump. Unlike other prosthetics, this one gives him double the energy back to help him step-by-step.

"Oh it's great. It feels great. I don't even know how to explain it. You get a push, it's like you have your ankle," said Bowman, who lost his leg in 2011 after a mining accident.

Bowman is the first to receive this technology in our region.
