A film festival and bike ride in the Star City is aimed at helping a local doctor.
Doctor David Kilmer has battled three cancers and is now receiving treatments for complications because of a surgery. The film festival kicks off Thursday with movies showing at Sixteen West Marketplace, and a bike ride on Kilmer's favorite trails.
A fundraiser on Sunday will also help pay for medical bills, which could be about $1.2 million.
"To have the support of everybody in the community come out and help with this fundraiser, I can't even express how much it means to us," says Dr. Susan Kilmer. "It gives us the strength to carry on, when I do not think we could have the strength otherwise."
