Lt. Justin Sigmon of the Franklin County Sheriff's Office says a man is in custody, charged with attempted murder after firing at two deputies.
Sunday evening around 6 p.m., police responded to a 911 call. A neighbor said Roger Earl Davis was driving through their yard. When the two officers arrived, Sigmon says Davis was walking away from a burning tractor on his own property. He was carrying a gun. When Davis saw the officers C.T. Mayo and J.D. Hylton, he fired one shot at them. Neither officer was hit.
The officers arrested Davis, and he's being held in Western Virginia Regional Jail.
