A Liberty University freshman is dead after she fell hiking with a group of friends Monday.

A university spokesman tells WSLS the accident happened at Crabtree Falls in the George Washington National Forest in Nelson County.

The 18-year-old apparently slipped on the falls.

Liberty University school leaders met with the other five students who went on the hiking trip to comfort them in their loss.

It's the third death at the falls since 2010, and the 28th overall.
