As the gun control debate continues in Washington, D.C., the Roanoke Bar Association wants to make sure you know the law here at home.
Next Tuesday, April 16, the bar association will host a seminar called You and the Law, focusing on Virginia's gun laws.
This is the fourth year for the You and the Law program, but the first focusing on firearms.
Roanoke attorney Mike Whitlow said the goal is to make sure there is a clear understanding of the laws in place, especially given the nationwide debate.
"It will be designed to let people know what the current law is regarding firearms, as well as possession and use of firearms," Whitlow said.
The seminar will also include a presentation on personal injury law.
It is April 16 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Roanoke Higher Education Center on Jefferson Street.
The event is free, but registration is required. To register, call 540-265-8111.
