A Botetourt County man is in stable condition after emergency crews say he took a 30-foot fall from a cliff near Eagle Rock Tuesday.
EMTs tell us the 32-year-old and his uncle were walking along Prices Bluff Road around 10:30 a.m. when he slipped and fell.
Rescue crews had to rappel around 75 feet from the roadway to help treat the victim. Emergency workers set up a pulley system to lift the man up out of the ravine. They were able to pull him to safety after just a few minutes.
He suffered a few broken bones, but is expected to be just fine. He's being treated at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
The man was going down the side of the mountain to retrieve scrap metal from an old refrigerator, rescuers said. He wanted to sell the scrap metal for profit.
