New report shows big economic growth in Montgomery County

Posted: Updated:
MONTGOMERY COUNTY, VA -

A recent report shows Montgomery County made huge strides in economic growth during 2012.

The county welcomed eight new or expanding companies, bringing in $256 million in capital investment. The growth continues with addition of more than 1,200 jobs.

One example of the economic boom can be seen in the technology company Aeroprobe. The Christiansburg corporation is investing $3 million dollars in a new 20,000 square-foot facility. Company leaders say they plan to add about 40 new jobs.

Montgomery County Administrator, Craig Meadows, says you can tell how much the community is growing by looking around where Aeroprobe is located, at Falling Branch Corporate Park.

On one end, there's Dish Network, a company that announced the addition of 200 new jobs. Then, there's the recently opened online-retailer, Back Country. Plus, Inorganic Ventures, a business that expanded and doubled in size.

County leaders say there's even more room to grow. They hope to continue attracting more businesses and people to the area.
