Posted: Updated:
SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE, VA -

Construction is complete at Sunken City Brewery. The business is located at the Westlake Center at Smith Mountain Lake and will open on May 10.

The founder says it has been a stressful, but exciting process.

"It's been crazy. We've had such a great response, people stopping by," said Jerome Parnell, president and founder of Sunken City Brewery.

They will start out brewing their signature, "Dam Lager," and new IPA, "Red Clay." Parnell said they will also work on new brews, and begin canning beer in June.

"We are looking forward to being part of this community and serving our beer," said Parnell.

In addition to a tasting room, the brewery will also open a patio area outdoors, which will include live music.

You can follow the brewery's progress on their Facebook page, just search Sunken City Brewery.
