Roanoke City Council Votes to Raise Salaries

Posted: Updated:

Roanoke City Council took a step Monday morning toward its first salary increase since 2008.

Mayor David Bowers would go from making $20,000 to $23,000.

The vice mayor's position, now held by Court Rosen, would go from $16,560 to $20,000.

The salary for all other council members would go from $15,560 to $20,000.

Council directed the city attorney to write up a resolution regarding the salary increase.

The last time council passed a salary increase, they later went back and reduced the amount, according to a city source.
