Big financial changes may be coming for the Virginia Museum of Transportation in Roanoke.
The Roanoke City Council discussed plans to give the museum $100,000 a year for the next five years.
Roanoke Mayor David Bowers says the council is trying to meet a challenge the president of Norfolk Southern issued years ago.
"Times are getting a little better and we want to accept that challenge and improve our Museum of Transportation," Bowers says.
Bowers says the museum has done a great job of bringing more visitors and now it's the city's turn to step up.
City council will vote on the funding increase next Monday.
