The Franklin County School Board moves forward with budget cuts.
As we have reported, the school district faced a $1.5 million budget shortfall.
Monday night the board voted to cut 14 of the 36 governor's school positions and eliminate elementary school sports. The money will go to instructional staff pay.
"The governor's school has impacted my life in more ways than I can tell you," said student Adrianna Wilson. "I would be lost without the program."
Ed Jamison, the chairman of the school board, resigned at the meeting, saying he did not agree with the vote. His resignation is effective immediately.
