The support is still rolling in for Shotgun, a severely malnourished horse rescued from Franklin County. Shotgun is well on his way to recovery, and is still gaining back the weight he sorely needs.
On Wednesday, management from the Roanoke Civic Center presented the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue with a $600 check. The money was raised during a silent auction at the "Pet Ex" last month.
"We were thrilled because we were all moved and we thought this is meant to be," said Roanoke Civic Center GM Robyn Schon.
"This is wonderful, because that's how we run this organization: by donations and grants," said Kathryn Barber with the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue.
Since we first reported on the severely malnourished horse being rescued, the number of people volunteering at the Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue has doubled.
