While most of the community has increased their efforts to go green, the American Heart Association is pushing for us to go red.
Roanoke's first annual Go Red for Women Luncheon was held this afternoon.
The event featured keynote speaker Eleanor Wells, who talked about heart health. There was also a masseuse on hand giving massages.
Heart disease survivor Sara Woods says it's important for people of all ages to be aware of their health.
"A lot of people think, 'Oh you have to be older to be affected by these,' and that's not true at all," Woods said. "And so that's really my passion, is getting the word out. Start young, and make healthy lifestyle choices."
The American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Movement has impacted women's health for 10 years.
