Witness describes aftermath of fiery I-581 crash

Posted: Updated:

Christina Collins was at home when she heard, and felt, what she said she knew was a car crash.

"We just wanted to go over and help," Collins said.  She was home with her brother.

Collins lives only about a block away from Interstate 581, where a fiery five vehicle accident killed two truck drivers Wednesday.

Collins, explaining she was a nursing assistant by trade, said she ran to the scene wanting to help.

"[The emergency workers] said they didn't need any help," Collins said.  "There was no reason to come up there."

The names of the victims have not been released.

Virginia state police are investigating the accident.
