Severe thunderstorms moving in

ROANOKE, VA -

All Severe Thunderstorm Warnings and Watches have been canceled or have expired.  The storms have moved out of the region and the threat for severe weather has ended.

A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in effect until 5:15 p.m. for Charlotte and Halifax Counties.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for Southside Virginia.

Storms will move into the region along and ahead of a cold front.  Thunderstorms will mainly bring the threat of damaging winds and large hail.  Heavy rain is also expected. 

Storms should be out of the region by 5:30 p.m.  Gusty winds will continue behind the front, bringing in cooler and drier air.
