Several South Roanoke County neighbors said Thursday's storm was worse than last summer's Derecho.
"We were only [without power] for a day [last summer]," said Penn Forest resident Don Sublette.
Thursday's storm blew a tree down on Sublette's home.
"I thought we might have a hole in the roof and into the house," Sublette said. "Fortunately it didn't go in through the ceiling."
There were several other homes that had trees on top of them in the south county area.
A large evergreen damaged the roof of an apartment complex on Chaparral Drive near Cave Spring High School.
The Kroger on the 4400 block of Brambleton Avenue had to throw away many perishable foods due to the lack of power.
