Roanoke City Council Recognizes Ralph Tartaglia for 37 Years of Service

Roanoke City Council honored Deputy Fire Chief Ralph Tartaglia for his nearly four decades of service on Monday.

Tartaglia will retire at the end of June.

"Chief Tartaglia has done a fabulous job for us for 37 years," Roanoke City council member Bill Bestpitch says. "He's protected our citizens and done everything he can to minimize the loss of property and death by fires through out the city. We could never repay him for what he's done."

Battalion Chief Jeff Beckner will take over for Tartaglia as deputy chief.
