The Blue Ridge Parkway got a big economic boost Monday.
The Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway received a $10,000 check from the Blue Ridge Marathon.
That donation will help preserve and protect the Parkway by helping the group clean and maintain its natural beauty.
"The work that they do to protect the view shed, the programs, the education is just phenomenal," said Blue Ridge Marathon chair Pete Eshelman. "The Blue Ridge Marathon is our opportunity to showcase the Roanoke region and the great outdoor assets and so our goal from the get-go is to the urban environment with the Blue Ridge Parkway and the mountains. So it's really important from our runners' perspective that they have a beautiful experience while they are up there."
This is the fourth year the marathon has donated to the Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway.
