No matter the weather, Jay Prater has you covered with both indoor and outdoor happenings in The Weekend Buzz.

It's gonna be a hot and sticky weekend with a good shot of thunderstorms, so I thought we would split up The Weekend Buzz into two parts.

Part I: Staying Indoors.

The 2013 Miss Virginia Pageant happens at The Roanoke Civic Center. It got underway Thursday and continues through Saturday. If you go to missva.com, you can find all the info you need, including links to webcasts and more. Our own Tara Wheeler from The Fox 21/27 Morning News is a former Miss Virginia. If you don't follow her on Facebook, you really should. She has been posting a lot of interesting behind-the-scenes info and pictures from her time with the pageant.

One of the hottest artists in country music visits the Jefferson Center Saturday night. Corey Smith hits the stage at 8pm. Country Weekly and Music Row Magazine say this guy is one to watch. His newest release is called "Live In Chattanooga" and it showcases songs from across all seven of his previous albums, so it's almost a greatest hits. Get ticket information online right here.

Of course movie theaters are a great place to soak up some AC. Opening this weekend at your local megaplex, Sandra Bullock teams up with Melissa McCarthy in The Heat. Sort of a buddy-cop comedy where two totally different personality types have to work together to bring down a ruthless drug lord. The hitch? Neither one of them has ever had a partner.. Or a friend for that matter. The Heat is rated R.

For a little more action, Check out Channing Tatum, ladies, and Jamie Foxx in White House Down. While on a tour of the White House with his young daughter, a Capitol policeman springs into action to save his child and protect the president from a heavily armed group of paramilitary invaders. It's a Roland Emmerich blow-em-up-fest. White House Down is rated PG-13.

Part II: Heading Outdoors

The award for "Best Name For An Event This Weekend" goes to The Covington Cork and Pork Festival. It happens in the Alleghany Highlands June 28-June 29 bringing competition BBQ to the mountains. This second Covington Cork and Pork Festival BBQ competition is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned event.  While the barbeque will stand front and center as the centerpiece of this festival, there will be entertainment, a wine tasting event, and children activities.  Learn more at their website.

The only people who don't like rain more than pro baseball players have to be bikers. If the weather holds, check out the 2013 Virginia State H.O.G. Rally. The Roanoke Rumble will be a great night of music and celebration, complete with beverages, food and more. The Roanoke Rumble starts immediately after the 800 Harley's motorcade, with police escort, rolls into Downtown Roanoke tonight after 6pm.

Star City Motor Madness happens tonight and tomorrow and draws spectators from throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond. Through fees from the participants and donations from sponsors, the event raises money for the Virginia Museum of Transportation which is located in Roanoke as well as other non-profit organizations. For spectators all activities are free. All the info is on their website.

Don't forget the Salem Fair starts up at The Salem Civic Center on Wednesday with Fox 21/27 and CW5 opening night. And if you have an event you'd like us to spotlight, hit me up on Facebook, or send me an email.
