As we get closer to July, the Moneta Volunteer Fire Department is getting ready for their big July Fourth fireworks display.
This is the third year the department will host the Independence Day celebration. It's not just about the holiday for them, it's also a chance to raise some extra money. As volunteers, they're responsible for about 40 percent of their operating budget.
"It's the biggest single event that we do," said Moneta Fire Department President Jeffrey Pauley. "Last year we netted about $18,000. I'd love to double that this year, that would be wonderful."
The celebration is July 4 starting at 6 p.m. in Downtown Moneta. There will be vendors, food, music, games, and even some local wineries.
