Roanoke City Council members continue the discussion of fixing the $74 million storm water run-off problem with an adjusted utility fee.
Back in 2010, city leaders suggested a set utility fee of $3 a month.
Monday, they've changed that proposal slightly, so property owners will pay for what they own. So, if you have a smaller house, you'll pay a smaller fee.
The city engineer, Phil Schirmer, says they will use GIS technology to measure the amount of property you have as it relates to storm water run off.
Council members also stressed the importance of all the information being made available to the public before the ordinance is voted on in September.
Council members asked for more incentives to be put into place and for fees to be collected two or three times a year, so people won't have to pay all at once.
