Flash Flood Advisory and Watch for Tuesday

A Flood Advisory is in effect until 3:30 p.m. for Floyd, Montgomery and Roanoke Counties and the Cities of Roanoke and Salem.

One to three inches of rain has fallen in these areas.  Minor flooding is possible along streams and creeks, in low lying areas and on city streets.

Use caution if traveling in these areas this afternoon.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until 6 a.m. Wednesday for Bedford, Carroll, Grayson, Floyd, Franklin, Henry, Montgomery, Patrick, Pittsylvania, Pulaski, Roanoke and Wythe Counties.

A Flash Flood Watch is in effect until midnight for Amherst, Appomattox, Campbell, Charlotte and Halifax Counties.

Thunderstorms will form and move across the region today into tonight.  Rain moving over the same areas could bring over two inches which could cause flash flooding.  Low lying areas and areas near streams and creeks will see the highest potential for flooding.

Rain should become lighter heading into tonight and through the day on Wednesday.
