A Roanoke grand jury added several charges against the man accused of drunk driving and causing an accident that killed two truck drivers on Interstate 581 last month.
Court records show Timothy Wellons now faces felony charges of DUI for having a blood alcohol level over 0.20, and two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter.
The grand jury also tacked on a misdemeanor assault and battery charge.
The assault and battery victim appears to be a doctor or nurse in the ER at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where Wellons was treated after the crash.
Wellons's trial is set for October.
Roanoke commonwealth's attorney Don Caldwell said the two original charges on which Wellons was being held, two counts of involuntary manslaughter, are still there as well.
Caldwell said Wellons will have a preliminary hearing on those two charges in August.
